Message from the Dean
Welcome to Graduate School at Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin Each year, Graduate School identifies and attracts promising students to form a dynamic and diverse global community, shaping them into visionary scholars, innovative educators, and creative leaders while encouraging them to cross disciplinary boundaries. Graduate students are at the heart of UniSZA’s excellence in research and education, studying with distinguished faculty members. We are proud of this diverse community, which represents many races, ethnicities, and nationalities. Almost two thousand graduate students from 32 different countries are enrolled in over 60 doctorate and master programs. This breadth of diversity with regard to learning opportunities, geographical reach and program diversity, reflects the mission of the university to provide educational opportunities, regardless of one’s background. Graduate school is one of the most exciting periods in a scholar’s career. It is a time when students make transition from absorbing information and learning skills, to making lasting contributions to human knowledge. The friendships and collaborations you make in graduate school last a lifetime, and you will find a supportive and inclusive community of graduate peers with shared interests. As a graduate student, you will face many exciting and rewarding challenges. Success in Graduate School depends on careful planning, and the School is committed to help you plan your academic and professional future. We will facilitate your professional growth, your development of life skills, your academic success, and your ability to successfully network. Take advantage of the many workshops and professional development opportunities offered by the Graduate School, faculties and university. As the new dean, I am here to support you throughout your graduate studies, and I am honoured to join the Graduate School in this endeavour. I would like to take this opportunity to recognize my immediate predecessor, Professor Dr. Ahmad Puad Mat Som, who has worked tirelessly on behalf of UniSZA’s graduate students. Make the most of your time here and I wish you the best of luck in your graduate studies. ‘ILMU DEMI FAEDAH INSAN’
